Drawing on the industrial beauty and storied past of my hometown, Scranton, Pennsylvania, Solemn Slade’s music is deep, complex, and as dark as it is beautiful. Through the use of timeless compositional techniques, each song tells its own story that draws the listener in; and through the use of modern sound design elements, worlds of cinematic wonder and beauty are created. While unique and creative, this music is undeniably compelling.
The artwork for each of the tracks is a collaboration with photographer Anthony Ball, taken everywhere from Dubai to his own backyard outside of Oklahoma City.
Track 001 | Taking Flight
A soaring instrumental track that follows the journey of waking up and learning to fly. It opens with light ambience and a piano that gradually fades in to reveal an innocent spirit of exploration and growth. The track captures that initial spark of curiosity and wonder and proceeds along to capture the timidness of trying new things and sometimes learning the hard way. The song climaxes in a spirit of victory as our subject has learned to fly and does so into the wide expanse of endless possibilities.
